Is Electrum ABC free?+
Yes. Electrum ABC is free and open-source software, released under the MIT license. There is no paid tier, no in-app purchases, and no fees for using the wallet itself — only the network fee paid to eCash miners when you send a transaction.
Is it custodial?+
No. Electrum ABC is non-custodial. The seed phrase and private keys are generated on the user's computer and never leave it. Neither Electrum LLC nor any server can access user funds. If the seed is lost, the XEC balance cannot be recovered.
Does it have a login page?+
No. There is no online account, no email signup, and no login page. Electrum ABC runs locally on your computer and uses a wallet-file password — never a remote login. Anything that looks like an Electrum ABC login is not Electrum ABC.
Which coins does it support?+
Electrum ABC supports eCash (XEC) only. It does not hold Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum, or any other coin. For Bitcoin, use the Electrum Bitcoin wallet — they are different projects.
What is eCash (XEC)?
eCash is a fast, low-fee cryptocurrency that forked from Bitcoin Cash in 2021. It uses the ticker XEC and aims for sub-second confirmations through Avalanche-based consensus.
