Staking XEC with Electrum ABC.
What the wallet does, what it doesn't, and what you actually need to participate.
Honest framing first. Electrum ABC ships the Avalanche Proof Editor — a tool for constructing and signing the cryptographic proof that ties a stake (your XEC) to a node identity. It does not run a node. To actually stake on the eCash network you need a Bitcoin ABC full node configured with your signed proof.
Prerequisites
- At least 100,000,000 XEC held in keys you control.
- A machine capable of running a Bitcoin ABC full node 24/7.
- A reliable internet connection.
Steps
- Set up your full node and let it fully sync the chain.
- In Electrum ABC, open Tools → Avalanche Proof Editor.
- Add your stake UTXOs and sign the proof.
- Export the signed proof and load it into your node's configuration.
- Restart the node — it will register as a stake provider.
Risks
Stake is not slashed on eCash today, but downtime reduces effective rewards. Treat staking as committing your machine, not your coins.
Does the wallet stake directly?+
No. Electrum ABC includes a Proof Editor that lets you build and sign Avalanche stake proofs, but staking itself requires running a Bitcoin ABC full node with the proof attached. The wallet handles the cryptography; the node does the network participation.
What is the minimum stake?+
The minimum proof stake on eCash is 100,000,000 XEC. This is enforced at the protocol level by the Avalanche pre-consensus rules and is not configurable.
What return can I expect?+
Staking rewards on XEC fluctuate with network participation and total staked supply. We do not publish a fixed rate — see the live network statistics on third-party explorers for current numbers. This is not investment advice.
