Get eCash (XEC) into a wallet you control.
Start with Electrum ABC. Once you control the keys, move XEC from any reputable exchange or swap service.
Download Electrum ABC before you buy.
Exchanges get hacked. Self-custody is the whole point. Install the wallet, create a seed, and only then withdraw your XEC to an address you control.
Three ways to acquire eCash.
Centralized exchanges
Many major exchanges list XEC against USDT, BTC or fiat pairs. Create an account, verify it supports the eCash network, and withdraw to your Electrum ABC address.
Swap services
Instant swaps let you convert other crypto into XEC without creating an account. Compare rates, check the receive address, and start with a small amount.
Peer-to-peer
Buy directly from someone you trust, or use a P2P marketplace. The seller sends XEC to your ecash: address; you release payment once confirmed.
We do not endorse any specific exchange or swap service. Listings, jurisdictions and networks change over time — always verify the XEC/eCash network is active before depositing or withdrawing funds.
Always pick the eCash (XEC) network — not Bitcoin Cash.
eCash and Bitcoin Cash share historical lineage and a few exchanges still display them together. Sending XEC over the BCH network — or BCH to an ecash: address — destroys the funds. The Electrum ABC receive address always starts with ecash:.
Move XEC to a wallet you control.
Get a receive address
Open Electrum ABC, click Receive, copy the ecash: address.
Submit the withdrawal
Paste it in the exchange withdraw form. Pick the eCash network. Send a small test amount first.
Confirm and consolidate
Wait for confirmations in the wallet, then withdraw the rest. Done.
Getting XEC — the questions that come up.
Where can I get eCash (XEC)?+
XEC is traded on several major cryptocurrency exchanges and swap services. Choose a reputable platform that operates in your region, verify it lists the eCash (XEC) network, and withdraw to your own Electrum ABC wallet. We do not link to specific exchanges from this site; always do your own research before sending funds.
How do I move XEC from an exchange to Electrum ABC?+
Open Electrum ABC, copy a receive address (starts with ecash:), paste it into the exchange's withdrawal form, choose the eCash network, and confirm. Always send a small test transaction first when using a new address.
Is XEC the same as BCHA or Bitcoin ABC?+
Yes — it's the same chain, renamed and redenominated. BCHA was rebranded to eCash (XEC) in July 2021 with a 1,000,000:1 token split. Electrum ABC is the non-custodial desktop wallet for XEC.
Why does my exchange show a different ticker?+
A handful of exchanges still display the legacy 'BCHA' ticker or treat eCash as a Bitcoin Cash variant. Confirm the deposit/withdrawal network is eCash (XEC) before sending — sending XEC to a BCH address is a permanent loss.
What should I do before buying XEC?+
Download Electrum ABC first, create a wallet, and back up your seed phrase. Only after you control the keys yourself should you withdraw from an exchange. Self-custody is the whole point of using a non-custodial desktop wallet.
