What this is

Electrum ABC is a non-custodial desktop wallet for eCash (XEC). It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, integrates with major hardware wallets, supports native multisig, and is released under the MIT license. It is not a browser extension, not a mobile app, and not a custodial exchange account — it is the local software that signs your transactions on your own machine.

Mission

Give eCash holders a desktop wallet that treats key custody, verifiability, and long-term compatibility as non-negotiable — not features to be traded for growth metrics.

How we work

Open-source review model. Code lands in a public repository, releases are reproducible, and issues and pull requests are triaged in the open. No private forks, no closed roadmap.

Independence

No venture capital, no token sale, no advertising SDKs. Development is funded by the steward company so incentives stay aligned with users who hold XEC, not with growth targets.

The XEC ticker launches, introducing Avalanche pre-consensus and a smaller base unit to the Bitcoin-ABC codebase.

Community maintainership
Volunteer maintainers keep the desktop wallet in step with node releases, adding hardware-wallet support, multisig, and CashFusion.

Principles

Non-custodial by default

Every wallet holds its own keys locally. Electrum LLC never receives, stores, or has any technical ability to touch user funds — the software is not a service.

Reproducible builds

Anyone can rebuild each release from the tagged source and byte-compare against the published installers. Trust is verifiable, not asserted.

MIT forever

The source is MIT-licensed and mirrored publicly. Forks are permitted; only the Electrum ABC name and marks are protected.

Who publishes it

Electrum ABC is published by Electrum LLC (Company № L15000123443). The full source is mirrored to the official repository and builds are reproducible.

License

MIT. The source can be read, forked, and redistributed in modified form; the only restriction is that derivative works may not use the "Electrum ABC" name without permission (see trademark).
